🐾 An incredible encounter in the canine world

Some encounters leave a lasting mark… And the one with Laëtitia and her Hydro Training center “Le Temps des Paluns” is definitely one of them!

🌊 Bahia and the discovery of hydrotraining

During the last year of her life, our Newfoundland Bahia was having increasing difficulty walking — especially when I had to be away for work for several weeks at a time. Walks, which were essential to her balance, became less frequent, and her mobility suffered as a result.

Then, as if by fate, my wife came across a flyer presenting a new Hydro Training center, just a few kilometers from our home at the time. We made contact, scheduled a first appointment, and there was Bahia, in a mini pool equipped with a treadmill, guided by her new coach: Laëtitia! (photo)

The effects were quick and remarkable. Walking in water allows a dog — even one severely affected by dysplasia — to build muscle without having to support its own weight. Bahia very quickly felt better, more relaxed, and regained the strength to enjoy lovely walks despite her advanced age.

I will never thank Laëtitia enough, because I am convinced that she greatly contributed to giving our Bahia one more year of life — a year of happiness shared with this wonderful dog.

🐶 Other companions won over: Filou, Ollie, Odin…

After Bahia, Filou, who suffered from a herniated disc, followed the same path. Then Ollie, for muscle preparation before agility training. And finally Odin, our big Bullmastiff, who also absolutely loves these aquatic sessions!

Hydro Training is fantastic:

• For the rehabilitation of dogs injured or suffering from joint conditions (dysplasia, osteoarthritis, etc.)
• For the physical conditioning of sporting dogs
• And even for mental well-being, as water both soothes and stimulates

But what truly makes this place unique is Laëtitia’s warmth and sensitivity. She has a natural gift for communicating with dogs. Bahia, Filou, Ollie, and later Odin were always happy to arrive at her place — and as everyone knows, dogs never lie!

🏡 The Le Temps des Paluns kennel

Le Temps des Paluns was originally a Bullmastiff breeding kennel — and that’s where our “little” Odin was born. Laëtitia’s work with her dogs is remarkable: puppies that are well-socialized, balanced, curious, and full of life. They grow up in a rich environment, are accustomed to city life, children, noises… everything needed to become confident, well-adjusted dogs.

Laëtitia regularly takes her dogs to the veterinary clinic, on urban walks, and into contact with the public. And when one of them needs to change families, she personally ensures they find the right home. That’s how Odin came into our lives — and I don’t regret it for a second!

💚 A deeply humane approach to dogs

What I discovered at Le Temps des Paluns is far more than a center or a kennel: it is a philosophy of the dog, based on knowledge, respect, and love for living beings.

A very humane approach, rare attentiveness, and a level of canine behavioral expertise that commands admiration. I learned a great deal through this experience.
